Dr. Larry Joosse, DVM

Dr. Larry Joosse grew up in Grimsby, Ontario. He graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science degree and then a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. He was the recipient of the Merck award for proficiency in clinical medicine. Larry and his wife Patsy moved to St. Marys in 1981 where Dr. Joosse worked at the St. Marys Veterinary Clinic initially as an associate and then as a partner for 22 years. Although he practiced both on food producing animals and companion animals as the years went by, his emphasis focused more and more on the companion animals. When the partnership was sold to the Kirkton Veterinary Clinic, he decided to focus all clinical practice on companion animals (pets) with emphasis on medical cases and general care.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Larry enjoys gardening, landscaping, slo-pitch (before Covid), cycling, reading, theater, kayaking, rockhounding, and walking the family dog Bonnie.  Patsy and Larry are active members of First Baptist Church in St. Marys serving on leadership teams and involved in many church activities. Both also spent many years as part of the St. Marys Skating Club. Larry also volunteered as part of the Interclub North Region of the Western Ontario Section of Skate Canada and was involved in planning and hosting a number of skating competitions. Larry is a member and volunteer of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.
Professionally, Dr. Joosse is a member of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario, the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, Canadian Academy of Veterinary Dermatology, London and Area Veterinary Association, and the Golden Triangle Veterinary Academy (GTVA) on whose executive he has volunteered for a number of terms.
The Joosses have a son Matthew and a daughter Sarah. Matt has Bachelor of Science and Masters of Public Health degrees from the University of Guelph. He and his wife Veronica (also a Guelph grad) live in Sarnia and have two children Colin and Rita.
